Passenger Aircraft Production in India

1. Make in India will get a major boost if passenger aircrafts are manufactured in India.

2. Government must notify guidelines and requirements for private industries in India interested in manufacturing to start production after necessary clearance. The manufacturing should have 70% equity from India and remaining from abroad if utmost required to project that India can work on such a complex project without outside support. Government must supply or fund a certain portion so that it can reap the benefit of the success of the output and hold license and Air India can be supplied aircraft at low cost from that.

3. HAL has started working on it but facing too many hurdles due to cost and non strong support from govt and skilled persons. The Kaveri engine is a mighty effort but not in full steam. Maybe ISRO can help them with the engines.

4. HAL has avoided private partnership it is good since there are chanced data will be leaked. Private companies like L&T, Mahindra, Tata have expertise in design, IT and other factors which will cause a great increase in manufacturing in India. Govt must allow public and private to work independently but speed up the process considering the skill and needs of the country.

5. Boeing and Airbus are dominating the world aircraft market for such a long time and Indian companies are severely stressed by the cost & wait time & demand for these company aircrafts. Indian companies must be created a favourable environment to compete with them in long term. If work is cleared now by at least 2020 work will start since very huge manpower, R&D, space is required and by 2025 we can have our own aircraft with Made by India tag. And in future will gain with experience and testing the necessary modifications in design required to suit all needs. By 2030 we can be proud of a successful aircraft with all modern features.

6. The aircraft engines are dominated by only two companies in the whole world Rolls Royce and another, a engine developed indigenously will greatly bring in lot of respect & will power to the youth of the nation that we can achieve mighty tasks. ISRO, IISc, HAL and air force should separately work on engines. At the same time private companies should collaborate among themselves and also students and IT professionals and experienced persons from abroad primarily NRI’s instead of waiting for private equity from outside India. NRI’s who have done M.S. and working abroad can be pulled only private industries since they can provide the salary necessary but not govt. Govt must just clear the background check and other clearance before they work on this project which is of national importance. An aircraft engine developed can earn several crores of revenue from outside market.

7. While manufacturing none of the intellectual rights should be violated since most of the aircraft principles have been patented several years back by the major manufacturers.

8. The manufacturing of Aircraft requires several IT professionals to virtually design various parts which will be a big boost of IT in india. The many IT companies already work for several companies hence they can be used for this project. Hence the manufacturers should integrate with the IT companies to complete the project.

9. If the project can be started several versions like smaller version of executive aircrafts must also be started in India.

10. Government must form a committe with private and public and frame rules for the production.
