I would like to suggest that we implement night safari in vandalur zoo, which will bring in lot of people and revenue to government. I have seen the same in singapore, please refer to following url for more idea. The idea will not cost much to the government for implementation, since it will be run from 7 - 9 pm with some events for the public. Please try to add bird safari and river safari if you can implement the same. Do allocate budget during the coming budget session or even before that. It will bring name to your government that you have tried to improve tourism and a picnic spot. Improve the vandalur zoo website also. Please spend on it infrastructure and do take surveys from people and what they want to improved.

2. Handicrafts - Special Economic Zone
Please take some initiatives to give job opportunities and generate revenue by creating a handicraft park. The concept can be like this. Bring in all people from all over india who are skilled in handicrafts trade give them employment and produce abundant goods to be exported. Some people are good in sculptures, textiles knitting, dolls,stone sculpting etc,. These initiatives will bring us in line with China who are doing all kinds of handicrafts. They are exporting idols of all gods and goddess to india, since the lack of supply internally in india. Please take some initiatives in this areas as well. The handicraft can be set up poombukar or thanjavur to be exported around the world. The goods made there can be sold online by the government itself to earn revenue not at loss but at market price.
3. Tourism: Temple town of thanjavur for navagrahas
Operate buses as tourism initiatives in temple towns. For example in thanjavur lot of people travel to visit the nava grahas. But so many private cars operate earning lot of money. But buses don’t ply properly. Instead government can take the initiative to run buses with tourism sponsors by picking people from one spot to another by paying a fees. The buses must travel non stop from one place to another not for local people only for tourism. The buses should start form thanjavur then from one place to another. In Mumbai lot of tourist operators work. In thanjavur the number of local, tamilnadu and other state people come in private cars to visit these people. Government has missed an immense opportunity. The buses from one navagraha to another need not wait for people. They can use the buses like hop on hop off tours earlier conceived.
4. Information Technology improvements - E - Governance - Ration Card, Vandaloor zoo website, employment agency website and server for uploading data by govt. staff
a) Please try to improve it infrastructure by doing more IT recruitments to bring in more talent to government.
b) Move all IT related work to be taken by government instead of outsourcing to private agents. For example even the vandalor zoo website is not good, try to improve it.

Do conduct surveys on regular basis to understand the people
difficulties, a website can be created were people can upload photos of
issues which they face directly and the person incharge for the area can
take care of the same.
d) Do improve the look and feel of all the websites held by
the governments, you can conduct a contest for college students, school
students and external people to participate and the best presented
website should be accepted and given prizes.
e) Conduct hacking competition to analyze how good your
servers are maintained. This will help the people to understand that you
believe in latest technologies and you are trying to upgrade security.
f) Try to give e-ration card and let people apply for it, so that all
accounts can be maintained in the servers, so that people can see how
much government is spending for ration system. Try to avoid people with
high salary from benefitting from the ration system.Try to get pan card
information from people, basedon that the tax department must dispaly
the annual salary, basedon this you can find out if they are eligibile
for facilities in ration card or normal card only. Those who by pass
system should be identified. Try to give this as a big project to
external agents like infosys, tcs, etc,.
g) Employment center were provide docs, should be automated
in a big way, govt. must release of people who have got job like in US
were reports are released every week in their website. The people who
have already got jobs must also inform govt through companes. Dont try
to create any new card instead use pan card as validation or voter card.
5. Processed Food and Natural Foods- Food SEZ - Processed milk products and fish
Please
try to implement a food SEZ wherein food, milk and other products can
be processed and exported to the whole world. The processing of milk can
create a lot of products like cheese, curd, etc,.
Even fish can be exported by all these initiatives, those
who are not aware of these initiatives like small fisherman, small milk
industries will benefit from this.
6. Highways - State Highways - Chennai to Pudhucherry - Expand roads
Government must take initiatives to improve all state highways, they must try to
implement
the ECR project very soon. The process to acquire land after
sholinganallur can be taken quickly and work can be started. While
implementing the project try to also consider having spaces near
highways, the buses can be parked by government vehicles and also shops
should be leased by government so that it brings additional revenue.
7. Chennai - MTC - Sell Amma Water inside Buses
Create
a small space above the engine or near the driver and keep atleast 20
bottles in all mtc buses. It will lead to increased sales of water.
8. Solar project implementation - Strict orders to
implement in Individual houses like hostels, hotels, etc,. to generate
electricity.
Orders must be passed by government
to generate electricity through solar for those who consume more
electricity. Homes are getting converted into hostels and consume high
electricity. All those must start generation of electricity through
solar panels.
9. Solar power generation plants in all District headquarters
Solar
must be generated in a great manner in all district headquarters
initially in a big way. Later on in all villages government must provide
some schemes to farmers to run pumps in the agricultural land.
10. Convert Sea Water to Normal water and pour into rivers
More
than river interlinking we must consider converting sea water to
drinking water or in huge quantities to be poured in the paths of rivers
like vaigai, cauvery, which will benefit in a much bigger way.
11. Cable Car project - Kodaikanal and Ooty - Similar to Genting Highlands, Malaysia
Long
distance cable car project must be implemented in ooty and kodaikanal
for long distance travel of say 10-15 kms to tourist spots like in
malaysia genting.

12. Extension of MRTS - Thiruvanmaiyur to Kelambakkam
To
extend the city you should definitely consider extending the MRTS from
thiruvanmiayur to kelambakkam. It will support the mtc buses in a big
way and bring inmore revenue. If the state govt. wants to earn revenue
consider a metro project. Do consider it to be done in underground. Try
to avoid the two level project.
